Patrick Tracey’s amusing article about the Mount Pleasant car-alarm bird (“Loony Tunes,” 9/1) confirmed what Capitol Hill residents have long known. Around here, northern mockingbirds (Mimus polyglottos) have been imitating car alarms for years. One serenades regularly on 5th Street SE; another hoots and whoops by the southwest terrace of the Capitol. And, unlike car alarms, they have no owners to turn them off!
