Baltimore boosters are celebrating the fact that many people who work in D.C. are moving to Baltimore’s less expensive housing market (“Charmer,” 9/15). I wonder which inspires more pride in Charm City: that Baltimore is becoming a suburb of a city that it likes to regard as a rival, or that the law of supply and demand keeps our housing values up and theirs down.
Baltimore supposedly has another attraction, namely, that it is “a real blue-collar place.” The Washington area has plenty of real blue-collar places. I should know; I grew up in one and left as soon as I could.
