Regarding the news item titled “Devout Face” (City Desk, 10/13): Your correspondent Elissa Silverman interviewed me for the article on Oct. 10, and I explained the reason the Rev. Hagler has been told that he needs permission to come on Catholic University’s campusnamely, that he tried during the summer to enter the grounds of the university president’s residence (through the back yard) and initiated a physical confrontation with a member of our public safety staff who blocked his path. Nowhere is this incident mentioned in Silverman’s article. As I told her, that incident is the reason we have taken this action regarding the Rev. Hagler. By omitting it, Silverman created the impression that the university told the Rev. Hagler that he needs permission to be on campus because, as she put it, he “has ministered to Catholic University janitors interested in unionizing.” The impression she conveyed to your readers is completely false.
