There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
The author made really good points in “Barrier Method” (10/20), and I found it to be very informative, well-researched, and readable. The statistics are very alarming, and I hope everyone in the D.C. metro area reads this story from beginning to end. It is sure to open some eyes and raise awareness. Something really needs to be done about these situations, especially concerning microbicides/better safe-sex products, and birth control insurance coverage. I believe that AIDS research/support/vaccine development is vital, but the development of better protection (that people will actually use and not mind using) is equally important. It is baffling that this hasn’t been realized yet by the “higher-ups.”
