Will he or won’t he? Whether aging third baseman Cal Ripken Jr. will return to the Baltimore Orioles next year remains unanswered. But that question certainly will be on the minds of fans who head out for tonight’s discussion between the baseball player and NBC sportscaster George Michael. Will Cal play coy once Mr. Sports Machine lobs the big query? Will he bat his baby blues and be noncommital? Hard to say. But it’s a safe bet that the discussion will focus on the Streak, the 300th Ripken homer, his all-around amazing career, and his thoughts on the Subway Seriesnot on whether this year was the Pride of Aberdeen’s last. (Frankly, he ended the year with a batting average of .277, a slugging percentage of .451, and a fielding percentage of .974. Should he remain healthy, I think he’s got the goods for another season.)
