Louisiana native Helanius J. Wilkins is all about dance. As founder and artistic director of helanius j. wilkins/DIMENSIONS, a contemporary-dance-theatre troupe in D.C., the dancer/choreographer is all about expanding minds. His latest modern-dance creation, Space, offers glimpses into the wonders and woes of life. Tonight, the company stages Wilkins-choreographed pieces such as “Loss,” an excerpt from the long-form piece The Edge of Uncertainty, in which Wilkins uses ocean imagery and sounds such as rolling waves and shortwave-radio signals to portray the connection that exists between all humans.
