It’s a pity the Washington City Paper and reporter Patrick Tracey covered the Klingle Road issue by highlighting the racist nonsense of Tom Diaz, who labels supporters of keeping Klingle Road closed “racist plutocrats” (“A Road Ran Through It,” 11/24). Diaz is wrong, and it was lousy journalism to swallow his line without looking at the issue more deeply.
The truth is that there are many people on both sides of the park (I live on 16th Street NW) who want Klingle Road kept closed. Believing that way does not automatically make one a racist or a plutocrat, though you wouldn’t know it from the City Paper’s coverage.
