Finally, someoneDave McKennahas written a strong, truthful piece of journalism (Cheap Seats, “Everybody Beats the Wiz,” 12/8) about the pathetic state of professional basketball in Washington, soup to (Jordan) nuts. As a lifelong and thoroughly pathological Knicks fan, I recall the great Bullets teams of the ’70s. But Gus Johnson, Earl Monroe, and Wes Unseld (the player, not the statue) seem as distant from these Wizards as ancient Egypt is from Washington, D.C.
Anyway, keep the sports coverage coming. In a town where the company line on the Wizards can seem a matter of faith, it’s a pleasure to read something different.
