SATURDAY
In a city populated by hares, I’m more of a turtle. I dawdle. I don’t think too much about my next career movebecause I still haven’t quite come to terms with actually having a career. I even write pretty slowlywhich puts me in an unfavorable light with my editors. In this town full of fast movers and quick thinkers, turtles like me get a bad rep. But this Saturday, the National Park Service will celebrate our hometown turtles…and their uncharacteristic (at least for this time of year) snappiness. At “Our Turtles Aren’t Sleepy,” rangers will tell kids that turtles in this town are wide-awakeand not sleepy! Well, I don’t know whom they’re talking about, but it sounds like bunk to me. At 10:30 a.m. at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center, 5200 Glover Road NW. Free. (202) 426-6829. (Elissa Silverman)
