FRIDAY

Laurie Mylroie will make you think twice before ever walking into a government building or boarding an airplane again. Her new book, Study of Revenge: Saddam Hussein’s Unfinished War Against America, argues that the Feb. 26, 1993, bombing of the World Trade Center was state-sponsored terrorism, courtesy of some old friends in the Middle East. Mylroie insists that the Gulf War never ended for Hussein and that the New York City bombing—carried out two years to the day after the end of that war—was part of Saddam’s continuing campaign against America. And why didn’t the U.S. government vigorously investigate? Because, Mylroie writes, the Justice and State departments don’t talk to each other. Maybe Mylroie can calm your fears when she discusses the book (and, perhaps, how to survive an anthrax attack) at 7 p.m. at Olsson’s Books & Records, 1239 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Free. (202) 338-9544.
