Washingtonians have long suffered an inferiority complex compared with New Yorkers, and Inside magazine seems determined to heighten it. Just take a look at the chart in the Feb. 20 issue that ranks “America’s Most Wired” cities. In the poll of Top 10 media markets, D.C. consistently ranks third or higher in every category, tying San Francisco in online shopping and standing alone as No. 1 in “Average Time Spent Online.” On the colorful accompanying chart, however, Inside editors chose to put New York at the top of the heap in bright-red ink, despite the city’s bottom-of-the-barrel numbers. D.C. gets muddled in the middle with a dark forest green.
