THURSDAY-SATURDAY

In 1995, Kevin Pollak told Empire Magazine that he goes to the movies every day and hasn’t taken a day off in 17 years. But sometimes it seems as if the diminutive wiseacre has been in every movie made in the last 17 years. Since ’95, Pollak has appeared in 18 films, bringing his grand total to 37. He’s in two films currently showing at the multiplex—The Wedding Planner and 3000 Miles to Graceland—with two more already scheduled for release in the coming months. But all this hard work has paid off: The indisputably authoritative Web site FameTracker.com lists him as the No. 3 Kevin—behind Spacey and Kline, but ahead of both Bacon and Smith, not to mention Graceland co-star Costner, who’s been knocked off the charts. In that same Empire interview, Pollak also said, “It’s great that I’m so busy right now, and if I ever come unstuck, I guess I can always go back to stand-up comedy….” Many people might not realize that Pollak began as a stand-up, renowned for his devastating Shatner impression. Find out why the smirking imp is taking a break from the big screen when he makes a series of rare live appearances at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, and at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10 at the Improv, 1140 Connecticut Ave. NW. $17.
