Annys Shin’s City Desk piece about the Corrections Corporation of America’s “looking” for more prisoners (“Hard Cell,” 3/16) in many ways says more than the lengthy cover story the previous week about the closing of Lorton (“Ten Things to Do Before Closing a Prison,” 3/9). The Lorton story addressed what effect the closing will have on prisoners, their families, and the area around the prison. The City Desk piece showed the opposite side of the story—that prisons are a business, like any other.
