WEDNESDAY
D.C. United created quite an international reputation for itself with its victorious romp through the Inter-American Cupincluding a win against Brazilian power Vasco da Gamathree years ago. And in its two previous outings against European clubs, D.C. has managed to not only tie Leeds United but also beat Newcastle United in a convincing 3-1 match. But tonight’s game marks the first meeting between our United and a top-flight team from the German BundesligaBayer 04 Leverkusen. The Fußballspielers are headed by former German National Team coach Berti Vogts and feature such star players as Jens Nowotny (Germany), Ze Roberto (Brazil), Ulf Kirsten (Germany), and the United States’ own No. 1 wandering midfielderand Bob Marley fanFrankie Hejduk. It’s another chance to see how our underpaid stars stack up against some of the world’s best. D.C. United meets Bayer 04 Leverkusen at 8 p.m. at RFK Stadium, 22nd & East Capitol Streets NE. $15-$36.
