The only thing we have to fear, it has been said, is the mullet itself. And it’s as true today as when Billy Ray Cyrus walked the Earth. So we are fortunate that a brave young band of men have banded together to form a band, a band brave enough to face its own fear andwe can hopevanquish our own. They call themselves Fear the Mullet. Believe them. These wandering troubadours from James Madison University caused controversy on the Washington City Paper’s message board with their bold stance that “mullets live on in most places.” Furthermore, singer Ryan McWilliams reveals, “We don’t have a good show unless we see one before we play.” If inspiration is not forthcoming, they go mullet-scouting at the 7-Eleven. Or bring their own wigs. Gay and merry despite their fear, and merrily gay despite everything else, the Fear the Mullet guys contend that “if you like any type of music, you’ll like the show.” So plan on having a bad hair day when they play at 9 p.m. at Revolution Coffee Lounge, 724 Pine St., Herndon. $3.
