The phrase “LIVE NUDE GIRLS!” has long been a successful selling point, and rockers Glass Candy and the Shattered Theatre are banking that it will likewise work to their advantage. The band has built up a following based on confrontational live shows featuring glamish androgyny, in-your-face punk-rock attitude, and one or more members usually ending up wearing less clothing than when they started. The initial shock draws people in, but the music is what keeps them coming back: The band lays down funky, dark disco more lethal than anything PiL ever played. The sparse arrangements, which feature only bass guitar, drums, and occasional bass synthesizer, suggest the nakedness of the Screamers. Oh, and vocalist Ida No sings, shouts, wails, and screams like an out-of-control Siouxsie Sioux. Check out her vocal acrobatics—and maybe a little bit more—when Glass Candy plays with Convocation Of… at 9 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Jacob Long)
