MONDAY
It’s not summer without Screen on the Green. That annual ritual of movie-watching on the Mall continues this Monday with A Streetcar Named Desire. And you are compelled to go, if only because you won’t be able to six months from now. Indoors, outdoors: These are trivial distinctions when the days are long, the nights are warm, and you can do almost everything you do inside on a blanket outside on the ground. (You can eat! You can sleep! You can watch a movie!) By January, you will have long forgotten the flies in your food, the ants on your legs, the mosquito bites on your ass, and the pungent bouquet of sweaty toes. But you will remember the sensation of running your fingers through the grass, the smell of the night air, and the sight of a young Marlon Brando in an undershirt. That’s worth the trip. At 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Monument grounds, 17th and Constitution Avenue NW. Free. (877) 262-5866. (Annys Shin)
