SUNDAY
When you reach a certain age, you start to notice that children are everywhere. Certainly, you’ve glimpsed them beforemost likely when they were screaming and you were thankful that they weren’t coming home with you. But, gradually, you start catching the good moments: the smiling baby who’s gleefully discovering how fast her arms and legs can move, the toddler who’s transfixed by a bug, the kid who’s giggling madly at his parents’ silly jokesknowing beyond a doubt that Mom and Dad are the funniest people in the world. Today is National Kids Day, and a day of activity and entertainment has been planned to encourage parents to forget about the office for a while and spend some time with the little reasons they work so hard to begin with. Besides, when was the last time you had a good water-balloon fight? The fun begins at 11 a.m. at Banneker Recreation Complex, 2500 Georgia Ave. NW. Free. (301) 562-2000. (Tricia Olszewski)
