Even though I should be used to it by now, I am still amazed to read that NIMBYism could spread to a park for kids (“Slide Show,” 8/10). I just don’t understand how anyone can be opposed to a toddler park! What is even more appalling is how some can say that because their own children did not have a toddler park, why should others? It is this kind of ludicrous thinking that keeps us from working together to improve the lives of our children here in D.C. A place for children to play in safety is a good idea no matter where the park is located.

I feel sorry for the children of Mount Pleasant—they deserve better.
