TUESDAY

So you wake up one morning thinking, You know, I’m really in the mood to see a wacky buddy-cop action/comedy with a likeable crossover Asian actor—what are my options? Don’t run out and buy your ticket to Rush Hour 2 just yet, my friend: Tonight, at a bargain price, you can watch a superior example of the genre, 1988’s Tiger on the Beat—starring the dreamy Chow Yun-Fat, all-purpose action hero. Chow’s varied film credits prove that he can not only joke like Jackie Chan and fight like Jet Li but that also he’s plenty capable of—sigh—breaking a few hearts while he’s at it. Throw him opposite Jodie Foster and he can act, too. So pass up the stale Hollywood fare and come see the best of the imports kick ass at 8 p.m. at the Lucky Bar, 1221 Connecticut Ave. NW. $2 (suggested donation). (202) 736-1732. (Tricia Olszewski)
