TUESDAY
Design starts with a problem. Fortunately or unfortunatelydepending on how deeply you consider such mattersa solution is sometimes so apt or so seamless that we forget that the answer didn’t exist before someone imagined it. (When’s the last time you mulled over life before chairs?) There’s a back story to every object and every landscape, and Kitchen [K]as part of its mission to educate the public about the “powerful, positive influence of design”wants to tell you a few. In the third and final panel discussion of “The Main Discourse,” talks that complement the gallery’s current exhibit, designers Jeff Jenkins, David Owen, and Ken Wilson, along with landscape architect Joan Honeyman, will discuss the process and products of design. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. at Kitchen [K], 1436 U St. NW. $15. For reservations call (202) 232-2675. (Jennifer Agresta)
