Like the swallows returning to Capistrano, the media vultures swooped back into Adams Morgan on Tuesday as the Great Condit Stakeout resumed outside his condo building on Adams Mill Road after an August recess. You would have thought that after the amorous congressman spilled his guts on national television—OK, maybe he just burped a little—followed by appearances from family members, staff members, and anyone else with skin in Gary Condit’s game, the media’s appetite for fresh Condit pictures would have been sated. But no: Two TV crews and an Associated Press photographer were back manning their sidewalk stations all day. By midday Tuesday, however, there had been no Condit sightings. “We heard he’s coming back to town with his wife and his kids,” the photog said hopefully. “That would be something different, anyway.” —Howard Witt
