Reading the hype for Jim Breuer’s “Heavy Metal Comedy Tour” at jimbreuer.com, one gets the impression that the perpetually stoned-looking comic thinks he’s invented the concept of adding music to comedy. Well, Ken Nordine did much the same thing nearly half a century ago with “Word Jazz.” And fellow Saturday Night Live-er Adam Sandler toured just a few years back with a band that included ace sideman Waddy Wachtel. And, of course, there’s that guy Yankovic. Oddly, Breuer seems to have more in common with hipster Nordine than his comic contemporaries. Instead of offering novelty songs, Breuer rants over metalish riffs. So although someone at Breuer’s dot-com believes that Jimbo will “take his show to the next level,” expect no “Chanukah Song,” or even “Eat It,” when Breuer stumbles onto the stage tonight at 7 p.m. at the State Theatre, 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church. $22. (703) 237-0300. (Dave Nuttycombe)
