We value your support now more than ever.

All year we’ve been covering the issues that matter most to you—the pandemic, the election, policing, housing, and more—and now our end of year membership campaign is here. Will you support our work to ensure we can bring you the same informative local reporting in 2021?

It’s astonishing that it took a commercial jet slamming into the Pentagon and over 200 New York firefighters dying for residents, city politicians, and whomever else to realize what D.C. firefighters have been vocalizing for years (“This Is a Test,” 9/21). Now that you all are aware that public safety in this city is much more than the Metropolitan Police Department: What’s going to happen now? Just ponder this: This city is awash in law enforcement agencies, but there is only one D.C. Fire Department.
