There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Usually, I get the Washington City Paper for its unsurpassed listing of local cultural events. I never like the articles, with the requisite pseudo-leftist, anti-everything, self-righteous tone.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to read Jason Cherkis’ refreshingly sensitive article about the effect of the Sept. 11 tragedy on our city (“Things Have Changed,” 9/21). I thought he managed to accurately portray the sense of loss of innocence and startling realization of vulnerability that we collectively felt.
Thank you for the departure from your usual cynical stance in a time when cynicism is both seductive and dangerous.
