My family buys almost all of our bread from bakeries, including Breads Unlimited and Marvelous Market. It is always curious to me to see articles on bread, such as “Our Daily Dread” (2/22), virtually ignore the great breads of a bakery such as Breads Unlimited on Arlington Road in Bethesda, which was making excellent European-style breads well before Mark Furstenberg established Marvelous Market. Breads Unlimited has had excellent breads for at least 20 years at more modest prices than those charged by the more recent specialty or gourmet bakeries, such as Marvelous Market.

Let’s give credit where credit is due and give thanks to Breads Unlimited for its products and service of more than 20 years. I think there are probably other local bakeries that go unheralded, but maybe that’s the topic for another article.
