Your article on the Washington Blade (“Blade Runners,” 4/12) notes the ways in which that publication has changed for the worse under its new ownership. Even more disturbingly, the new Washington Blade has retained an aspect of the old Blade that should have been jettisoned, namely, the practice of slanting its coverage to avoid offending Democratic Party hacks or the politically correct crowd.
A real “gay newspaper of record” would not credulously print Democratic campaign rhetoric as Gospel truth. Nor would it cover gay men’s issues in a manner better suited for the Washington Times. I had hoped that the Blade’s new owners would bring some semblance of objectivity in those areas.
