At first I thought it was going to be another bitch session, but as I read on in “Don’t Write on Me” (7/5), I warmed up to your points.
I actually laughed out loud as you wrote to describe the Free State’s banner, “Maryland’s clashing, zagging pit of ugly.” And I’ve always liked Maryland’s flag for its uncommon design.
And yes, as a Virginia resident, I wholeheartedly agree with you in reference to our boring field of blue.
Yes, D.C. has a very beautiful flag without text cheaply added to it. Its simple red-and-white, three-stars-and-two-stripes design maintains a classic emblem that has stood for so much for so long.
