Along with pretty boy Craig David’s Born to Do It and Artful Dodger’s Rewind, MJ Cole’s Sincere brought two-step, Britain’s brand of ghetto fabulousness, to the United States. Of the U.K.’s numerous electronica producers, Cole’s the one with the best songwriting skills, and he uses them to combine the soulfulness of R&B with drum ‘n’ bass’s fractured beats in the most tuneful way. With any luck, he won’t fade like DJ Jazzie B of Soul II Soul, who came out with a single so definitive, and a sound so imitable, that he became a one-hit wonder. Cole’s due for some new material, and maybe he’ll drop some when he spins at 12:30 a.m. at Nation, 1015 Half St. SE. $20. (202) 554-1500. (John Murph)
