Jason Crane is best known as Rocket From the Crypt trumpet player JC2000, but he’s always had a number of musical projects on the side to occupy his down time. Crane’s been a math rocker with Stacatto Reads and experimented in slo-core with A Day Called Zero. He’s also added trumpet to records by bands such as Black Heart Procession and GoGoGo Airheart. Beehive and the Barracudas finds Crane collaborating with Hot Snakes bassist Gar Wood, among a host of other San Diego indie-rock veterans. The band pounds out some of the toughest stripped-down garage-y punk rock this side of, well, that other Rocket From the Crypt side project. Beehive plays with Hot Snakes and the Lost Sounds at 7:30 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW. $10. (202) 393-0930. (Jacob Long)
