Just writing in appreciation for the nod to Television (Now Playing, 9/27).

I think what makes Adventure so compelling is its (conscious, I think) departure from Marquee Moon. And while nothing on Adventure soars like “Elevation” or swings like “Marquee Moon,” the strength of Adventure is its subtlety. The band may have blown “most of its creative wad” on its first effort, but I think in a perfect world, “Glory” would reveal itself as one of the best Side 1 track s of all time, and the solo on “Ain’t That Nothing” would not be a glaring omission from any guitar mag’s “all-time solos” list. It would be virtually impossible to top a debut as good as Marquee Moon, but Television came damn close by not trying to.
