Psych-tinged soul-jazz from 1969 by this underrated master of the Hammond B-3. Neither the free-form freakouts nor the dense skronk of the era’s other jazztronauts, McDuff’s funky, inventive arrangements instead prefigure the best of ’70s blaxploitation soundtracks. —Todd Hitchcock
