There’s a lot of clinginess lurking beneath the Apple-sweet pop of this 1970 album. Never tell folks, “No matter what you do/I will always be around,” ’cause they’ll go right out and break your heart. Maybe that’s why the band had twice the suicide rate of Joy Division. —Shauna Miller
