Thank you for the informative article by Eddie Dean on Prince William County prosecutor Paul Ebert and the work he has done in removing killers from our streets (“Alleged Killer, Proven Killer,” 11/22).
From the cases discussed, Ebert has shown excellent ability to build cases against the defendants as evidenced by his successes in obtaining convictions and the lack of overturns by higher courts. This is the job the county has hired him to do.
Dean faults Ebert’s work, hobbies, and feelings about the death penalty while searching for a big issue with which to bring him down. If the snipers had been as unable to hit their targets as Dean is unable to hit his, many of the shooting victims would still be around to celebrate the holidays.
