SUNDAY

I’m going to go out on an evergreen limb and guess that the Mistletones playing here next week are not the same ones pictured at www.mistletones.com. The ones with the Web site are self-described as a ā€œDickens of a Caroling Group.ā€ They come complete with a wardrobe possibly horked from a community-theater presentation of Oliver!, and they all look as if they watch a lot of public television. Those Mistletones are a cappella anachronists, and, quite frankly, they scare the plum pudding right outta me. The D.C.-area group with the same name is composed of smirking, mirth-making members of Golden and Trans Am who have created a seasonal supergroup (think Mannheim Steamroller for ectomorphs in tight T-shirts toting courier bags), which should probably scare me more, but doesn’t. Expect ā€œGood King Wenceslasā€ sung through a vocoder at 9:45 p.m. at the Galaxy Hut, 2711 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. Free. (703) 525-8646. (David Dunlap Jr.)
