Brian Montopoli holds up Montgomery County’s Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) ordinance as “a model of how to further class integration” (“Suite Deal,” 1/10). I view it as a textbook example of a well-meaning government program with an embarrassingly foreseeable unintended consequence. Because the MPDU ordinance applies to developments of at least 50 units, its most noticeable effect has been to fill Montgomery County with 49-unit developments.
