I was at Pershing Park when the drum circle and peaceful gathering were interrupted by someone yelling out that police were surrounding the park, and there was never any call to disperse (“Boss Hogtie,” 1/17). I slipped out and stayed in the area, and never did I hear calls to disperse. If we do not have freedom of assembly in this country, what exactly do people have?

Furthermore, why doesn’t the “free press”—like the Washington Post—investigate this instance where constitution rights were stripped, and free-speech advocates were taken from a park and tortured? Kudos to the Washington City Paper: You need to stay on top of this.
