With its chimey opening track and melodic strings and keyboards, Wilco’s 1999 effort was ahead of its time: Tweedy & Co. clearly knew that three years down the road, fans would need a salve for all those Yankee Hotel Foxtrot brain blisters. —Joe Dempsey
