Psi makes landscapes of creepy music: The Brooklyn-based trio works to create sparse and gritty textures in which no sound comes directly from one instrument. What seem to be recorded sounds of welding, cassette-tape rewinding, sipping through a straw, a spinning roulette wheel, and the ever-present creak of a door very well might be. But it’s just as likely that those sounds are the confluence of any number of tones coming from Jaime Fennelly’s electronic setup, Chris Forsyth’s electric guitar, and Fritz Welch’s percussion work. It’s atmospheric and pleasantly confusing. Try and make some sense of it all when the group performs at 8 p.m. at Sangha Free Trade Marketplace, 117 Carroll St. NW. $10. (202) 882-8828.
