Something may stink in the state of Denmark, but it sure ain’t the Raveonettes. The Danish duo isn’t breaking any new ground with its reverb-drenched retro-rock, but the band’s Jesus and Mary Chain-vocals-over-pounding-guitars sound is guaranteed to have you doing one of those stupid ’60s dances with a name like “the coelacanth” in a miniskirt and pair of white go-go boots. (Girls, that goes for you, too!) With nothing but a promising mini-LP (Whip It On) and lots of buzz to their name, it remains to be seen whether the Raveonettes will wind up being this year’s White Stripes or just another selection in the Big Rock Supermarket’s gourmet garage aisle. So check ’em out, and prepare to frug, when they play with Vue and the Sounds at 8:30 p.m. on the Black Cat’s Mainstage, 1811 14th St. NW. $10. (202) 667-7960. (Mike Little)
