Seventy-five-year-old Mozambican Dilon Djindi’s debut LP proves that Cuba isn’t the only place where old folks make stirring records. Backed by his own acoustic guitar and a host of supporting players, Djindi’s marrabenta songs aren’t in English, but the sweet trilling and playing are so affecting that it hardly matters. —Steve Kiviat
