In reference to your City Lights blurb (9/26) on the Cuban exhibit at the Fraser Gallery, jinetera does not necessarily mean “hooker.” “Hustler” is a more appropriate translation. There are many jineteros and jineteras in Cuba who are not necessarily peddling sex; often they peddle their companionship or tour-guide abilities to tourists.
