With last year’s unfuckwithable To Everybody, 90 Day Men underwent a toads-to-princes transformation. The Chicago quartet traded play-by-numbers math rock for tender, blue-eyed funk, and so astounding was this evolution that leaves changed and tides rose and fell. Too bad no one really noticed. The band’s new Too Late or Too Dead + 2 EP, however, could seriously part seas. Here’s the plan: On the next rainy day, find a large puddle. Load the disc onto your iPod and start shuffling to drummer Cayce Key’s staccato beats. Look down to notice that the water is, like, totally moving. Get thousands more people to do this. Then move the party to the Potomac, to the Chesapeake, to the Atlantic… Get down, Moses, when 90 Day Men play with Che Arthur at 9 p.m. on the Black Cat’s Backstage, 1811 14th St. NW. $7.
