TUESDAY

There’s no denying it: This is the Age of Lies. The No. 1 book on the best-seller lists last month was all about lies and the lying liars who tell them. Its author was sued by the No. 1 cable news network, whose trademarked slogan is itself a lie. The No. 1 country in the world went to war because of a lie. So how can we be sure that the Washington Storytellers Theater’s “Fibs, Falsehoods, Stretchers, and Prevarications: A Liars Contest” will be fair? In times like these, can we trust hosts Stephanie Garibaldi and “liar extraordinaire” Bill Mayhew (if those are, in fact, their real names)? Well, you can at least believe me when I tell you that this is the greatest event of all time. Though I don’t think anyone named George W. is entering, you can cast your vote for Big, Bigger, and Biggest Liar when the shoveling starts at 8 p.m. at HR-57, 1610 14th St. NW. $5. (301) 891-1129.
