This is to all your readers who were so upset about “Hell on Heels” (11/21): I’ve never been to a catfight and would probably run the other way if one broke out in my presence. I barely know of their existence. Perhaps that is because of my having spent so much of my life “in a putty-knife factory,” as H. Allen Smith might have put it.
As a 70-year-old aspiring writer, I enjoy creative expression in whatever format. Maybe your critics need to loosen up. For different perspectives on reality, I might suggest that they read one or both of the following: Nathanael West’s A Cool Million and Terry Southern’s The Magic Christian.
