Mac McCaughan & Co. have never made a record that sounds good, or even one that captures the enthusiasm of their live shows, but damn if the ‘Chunk can’t write some great pop songs. This album isn’t an immediate hitter like, say, No Pocky for Kitty, but give it time and it’ll knock you out for sure. —Christopher Porter
