I was disheartened by Dave Nuttycombe’s article (“The Gospel According to Gibbs,” 1/16) in last week’s edition of the Washington City Paper.
To trivialize the message of God’s love is an outrage and sacrilege. John 3:16 is one of the most prolific verses in the Bible. It is a personal love letter from God to believers, showing that He would not even withhold His only son Jesus to reconcile creation unto Him.
I know that many Washingtonians are ecstatic regarding Gibbs’ return but to compare it to the Messiah’s second coming is absurd. I can only hope that Nuttycombe will come to his senses and seek repentance for his lack of taste.
But then again, that’s what God’s love is all about—forgiveness. Thank goodness that God forgives even when we lack judgment.
