Congrats to Loose Lips (3/26) for reporting on how the District of Columbia lost a million-dollar case when Dan Rezneck, the senior attorney for D.C., fell asleep, audibly snoring during a jury trial. If this had been a criminal case, the losing person could have legitimately demanded a new trial on the basis of “ineffective assistance of counsel” in violation of his Sixth Amendment rights. As it is, the D.C. taxpayers will simply get hit with a sizable judgment.
D.C.’s own attorneys must adequately and capably represent their client, as required by the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct. What a shame for all involved.
