Your goofy ad hominem attack on Ken Timmerman (Department of Media, “Last Man Standing,” 7/23) betrays the usually interesting copy that I peruse on your site. To portray him as a right-wing nut—one doesn’t have to read too closely between the lines—because he was published in the Rev. Moon’s now-defunct magazine is resorting to the lowest common denominator: smear him with a broad brush.
Timmerman has, in fact, been writing interesting articles and books for several decades. Although I don’t always agree with his point of view, his work is impeccably researched and footnoted. If the best you can do is effectively insult his politics—whatever they are—you’ve sunk very low indeed.
