Up in Philadelphia, where DJ Low Budget and DJ Diplo combine Dirty South hiphop, ’80s New Wave, Baltimore house, Miami bass, and other seemingly disparate musical genres for crazy dance parties in a Ukrainian banquet hall, their night, Hollertronix, is the jawn. The tasty mash-ups may have been a revelation in the city of brotherly love, but D.C. doesn’t need a rock or dancehall or pop chaser with our crunk—Lil Jon goes down smooth all by himself here. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the opportunity to let the innovative Diplo put you in the mix should be missed; there are few turntablists in the universe who can splice Missy Elliott with the Clash to such harmonious, danceable effect. See it for yourself when Diplo gets down, with RJD2 and Rob Sonic at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat’s Mainstage, 1811 14th St. NW. $12. (202) 667-7960. (Sarah Godfrey)
